Dayton Silverbacks News Release
The Miami Valley Silverbacks have re-signed another pair of players from the squad which qualified for the 2007 Continental Indoor Football League playoffs, they announced today.
Offensive lineman James "Big Daddy" Crawford and running back Wiley Pugh have both agreed to return to the Silverbacks in 2008.
Crawford was one of the anchors on the offensive line last season for the Silverbacks.
"James was a good pick up from last year," Silverbacks head coach Carl Allen said of the 6-foot-6 385 pound lineman. "Another year will mean that he will be that much better."
One of the people glad to see Crawford back will be running back Wiley Pugh.
Pugh battled injuries last season, but had a breakout game at Springfield, scoring three touchdowns in leading the Silverbacks in rushing that night.
"Wiley had some injuries last season that kept him out of the lineup," Allen said, "but, he is healthy now and ready to compete for that starting position."
The Silverbacks held their first open try-out last weekend and will announce future try-out dates in the near future.
