Dayton Silverbacks News Release
The Miami Valley Silverbacks continued to build their 2008 roster by re-signing Mike South and Stan West.
The Silverbacks are coming off their first playoff appearance in 2008, and are the longest running professional indoor football team in the history of Dayton.
The duo will help bolster the Silverbacks' defense again in 2008.
South is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end and linebacker while West, 6'1", 290, will see time on both the offensive and defensive lines.
"I am excited to have Mike back for the 2008 season," Silverbacks coach Carl Allen said. "He led the team in sacks last season and I am looking forward to a better year this season.
"He's a hard worker and big part of this team."
West missed last season with an injury, but is healthy and ready to go in 2008. Allen believes West will help bolster the offensive and defensive lines for the Silverbacks.
"Stan is a quality offensive lineman that can also play on both sides of the ball," Allen said. "He struggled with an injury last year but he's healthy now and gearing up for 2008.
"Stan also has a great knowledge of the game."
Season tickets for the 2008 season are now available by visiting the Silverbacks' website (www.silverbacksfootball.com). The squad will be holding their second player tryout on Dec. 9 at Englewood Indoor Soccer Complex while the Silverbabes will be holding tryouts on Dec. 8 at the Dayton Academy of Gymnastics.
