Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

ATLANTA (August 19, 2011) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have recalled defender CRISTIAN QUIÑONES, pending USSF approval. The Strikers and Silverbacks have also agreed to a loan that will bring midfielder GRANT KERR to Atlanta for the remainder of the season.

The Silverbacks acquired Quiñones on loan from their NASL opponents on July 22. In his short time in Atlanta, Quiñones made one appearance, starting on the back line in the Silverbacks' rain-shortened match against Carolina on July 30.

"We feel that Fort Lauderdale's decision to bring Cristian back is a testament to his improvement while he was in Atlanta," said Director of Soccer Rodrigo Rios. "In the short period of time that we had Cristian here, we valued him as a person and as a player, and we really appreciate the commitment he showed to the Silverbacks."

After losing both Quiñones and forward Junior Sandoval within one week because of terminated loans, the Silverbacks added Kerr to round out the roster for the final month of the season.

Kerr, 25, appeared in five matches for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers this season, starting two. The Linlithgow, Scotland native first came to the United States in 2005 to play for Fordham University (N.Y.). In 2010, the 5-foot-10 Kerr played for Southend United in England's League One, before moving later in the year to Digenis Akritas Morphou of the Cyprus First Division. Quiñones will join the Strikers immediately; Kerr is expected to begin training with the Silverbacks early next week.
