Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

The Atlanta Silverbacks will host Miami FC for the second consecutive weekend this Friday, August 25 at 7:30 pm at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. The Silverbacks have only six games left in the 2006 regular season and each game will heavily impact the team's chances to make playoffs. Last week, Atlanta and Miami came into the match tied in points with 29 points each, but the Silverbacks came out of the game on top and took home the three points. Heading into this weekend, the Silverbacks sit in 5th place in the USL First Division rankings with 32 points; Seattle sits in 6th place with 31 points; Puerto Rico sits in 7th place with 30 points; and Miami sits in 8th place with 29 points (tied in points with Virginia Beach).

After falling 2-1 to Atlanta last Saturday, Miami will undoubtedly be looking for revenge this weekend and the game should prove to be another very exciting match. Last week the sold-out crowd watched as the intense play unfolded just a few yards away. The game was pretty even with good chances for both sides; as time wore down the intensity increased and it was obvious both teams were fighting for the win. Rodrigo Rios assisted Josh Smith twice last weekend in the Silverbacks' 2-1 win over Miami. Rios and Smith both earned spots on the USL Team of the Week for their efforts in the match.

This week will be the second-to-last opportunity for fans to watch the Silverbacks in a 2006 regular season home match. Fans will also get another chance to catch a glimpse of Miami's Brazilian soccer stars, Romario and Zinho. The duo led the Brazilian National Team which won the 1994 World Cup; Romario was named MVP of the tournament and the FIFA Player of the Year.

The first 500 fans through the gates at the "Georgia Lottery Game Day" will receive free Silverbacks sport bottles.

Due to the high demand for tickets to last week's game, please place your ticket orders early to secure a ticket to the game. For additional ticket information please call 1-866-GO-BACKS, or visit www.atlantasilverbacks.com.

NOTE TO THE COMMUNITY: The Atlanta Silverbacks appreciate the great environment we lived this past Saturday at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium, but it was unfortunate to the fans that were not able to enter the stadium due to the large demand for tickets. The RMGA Stadium has a maximum capacity of 3,000 and, unfortunately, over 1,000 people had to be turned away. To address the great demand, all fans (whether they were able to enter or not) were offered the chance to purchase tickets for this Friday's match. The Silverbacks will be expanding capacity at RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium in the off-season, but we continue to encourage fans to purchase tickets prior to game-day to ensure your ability to enter the complex. We appreciate the patronage and support of Atlanta's soccer fans, and encourage you to contact us with any comments and suggestions at 404-969-4900 or sb@atlantasilverbacks.com. Thank you very much.
