
Silverbacks announce open tryout date

The Miami Valley Silverbacks will be holding their second open tryout for the 2009 season on Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Englewood Indoor Soccer Complex.
The Silverbacks are entering their fourth season making them the longest running professional indoor football team in Miami Valley history. Players who attended the first tryout should attend the second tryout to show any progress in skills and conditioning from the first tryout. Those who attended the first tryout can attend the second for free if they bring a friend along with them, or can register for $40.
Tryouts will run from 8 a.m. until noon at the facility located at 501 E. Wenger Road in Englewood, OH. Englewood Indoor Soccer Complex is located on Wenger Road off of St. Rt. 48 (Main Street).
To get to Englewood Indoor from the south, take I-75 north to I-70 west, get off on the Englewood exit (St. Rt. 48) and turn right. Turn right onto Wenger Road and the facility is located on the left hand side of the road. From the north, take I-75 south to I-70 west and get off on the Englewood exit (St. Rt. 48) and turn right. Turn right onto Wenger Road and the facility is located on the left hand side of the road. From the west, take I-70 east to the Englewood exit (St. Rt. 48) and turn left. Turn right onto Wenger Road. The facility will be on the left hand side of the road. From the east, take I-70 west and get off on the Englewood exit (St. Rt. 48) and turn right. Turn right onto Wenger Road. The facility will sit on the left hand side of the road.
Registration begins at 7 a.m and runs through 8a.m.. Registration will be $50 with cash and money orders only being accepted.
Some players from the first tryout will be brought back to sign camp contracts and others from the Dec. 7 tryout will be signed to camp contracts as well.
"We are looking for 40 good men to take to camp," Silverbacks coach Derrick Shepard said.
Players will be tested in the 40 and 10-yard dash, the 20-yard shuttle, standing broad jump and vertical leap. Players are encouraged to bring appropriate shoes for turf and workout gear.
