
Silverbacks announce open tryout date

The Miami Valley Silverbacks will be holding their first open tryout for the 2008 season on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Englewood Indoor Soccer.
The Silverbacks are coming off their first playoff appearance in 2007 and are entering their third season making them the longest running professional indoor football team in Miami Valley history.
Tryouts will run from noon until 4 p.m. at the facility located at 501 E. Wenger Rd. in Englewood.
Registration begins at 11 and ends at noon. Players interested in trying out can pre-register for $50 (cash, check or credit card) until Oct. 5. No pre-registration will be accepted within 24 hours of the workout. Players can register online at www.silverbacksfootball.com, by phone at (937) 718-7044 or in person at Hobart Arena located at 255 Adams St. in Troy.
Registration the day of tryouts will cost $100 and will be payable by cash or money order only.
Players will be tested in the 40 and 10-yard dash, the 20-yard shuttle, standing broad jump and vertical leap. Players are encouraged to bring appropriate shoes for turf and workout gear.
