Indianapolis Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that all-star goaltender Shawn Silver was selected as this week's CHL Goaltender of the Week. For Silver, it is his CHL-leading fifth Goaltender of the Week award, while also collecting Goaltender of the Month recognition in both December, 2002 and January, 2003.
Silver's "artistry in net" came at the expense of two of the top four teams in the CHL in the Southern Conference-leading Austin Ice Bats and the Oklahoma City Blazers. He stymied the powerful Ice Bats with a 40-save, 6-0 shutout on Friday night in Austin and followed that performance with a 30-save, 6-3 win over the Blazers which clinched the Northeast Division title for the Ice.
Overall numbers for the week included a 2-0-0 record, 1.50 goals-against-average and a .959 save percentage. Silver ranks in the CHL's top three goaltenders in wins, shutouts, GAA and save percentage and is a finalist for the Scott Brower Memorial Trophy, presented to the CHL's Most Outstanding Goaltender.
The Ice is in Tulsa tonight for an 8:05 p.m. face-off with the Oilers, then returns home for a pair of home games this weekend. Indy hosts the Austin IceBats on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum and closes out its home portion of the regular season with a 7:00 p.m. contest with the New Mexico Scorpions on Saturday night from Conseco Fieldhouse.
Friday night's tilt is "Fan Appreciation Night," where the first 5,000 fans will receive a team photo that can be used for autographs in a post-game signing session with the players. Saturday night features a pre-game concert from Christian recording artist, Salvador. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with concert slated to begin around 5:00 p.m.
Tickets for both home games can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayers and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
