San Antonio Stars News Release


THIS WEEK'S GAMES:

Wednesday, July 28 at Minnesota Lynx @ Target Center 7:00 p.m. KSJL 810 AM

This will be the fourth and final matchup between the Silver Stars and Lynx this season. San Antonio leads the season series over Minnesota, 2-1. The Silver Stars took both games in San Antonio, winning 56-44 on May 26 and again at the SBC Center on June 24, 70-57. The Lynx won on their homecourt on June 3, 55-47. The Silver Stars trail the all-time series by just two games with a record of 9-11 against the Lynx and are looking to close out the season series with a win.

Friday, July 30 vs. Phoenix Mercury @ SBC Center 7:00 p.m. KSJL 810 AM

This will be the fourth and final meeting between the Silver Stars and Mercury. The Silver Stars trail the season series by one game and look to even it up with a win in San Antonio. Although the Silver Stars trail the all-time series, 13-15, they hold a 9-4 advantage in home games. Saturday, July 31 vs. Los Angeles Sparks @ SBC Center 7:00 p.m. WB35, KSJL 810 AM

This will be the third meeting between the Silver Stars and Sparks. The Sparks have won the first two games with both contests decided by single digits. The Silver Stars trail the Sparks by just one game in home contests, 6-7, and are looking to even things up with a win in their final game before the Olympic break. Wednesday, July 21 at Phoenix Mercury L 87-55

Plenette Pierson scored a season-high 20 points to help the Mercury to an 87-55 triumph over the San Antonio Silver Stars ... Phoenix never trailed but held just a 25-24 edge before Diana Taurasi nailed a 19-foot jumper with 6:07 remaining in the first half to trigger a 14-0 Mercury run ... the lead was 46-30 at the half and Phoenix pulled away thereafter ... Adrienne Goodson and Agnieszka Bibrzycka had 12 points apiece to pace San Antonio.

Saturday, July 24 at Connecticut Sun L 69-55

Nykesha Sales scored 26 points as the Connecticut Sun cruised to a 69-55 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars ... Katie Douglas scored 14 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 13 for the Sun, who avenged a 78-67 road loss to San Antonio nine days ago ... Shannon Johnson scored 15 points for the Silver Stars and Jessie Hicks chipped in 10.

QUICK NOTES

Olympic Star

On Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 fans will get the chance to sign the Silver Stars' banner and send their well-wishes to Shannon "Pee Wee" Johnson and the rest of the U.S. National Team competing in Athens. Fans in attendance on Friday and Saturday can sign the banner on the East Concourse of the Plaza Level before each game and on the court during "Inside the Huddle" following each game.
