Silver Stars waive Kraayeveld and T. Williams

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Silver Stars Chief Operating Officer Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil announced today that the Silver Stars have waived Catherine Kraayeveld and Toccara Williams.

Kraayeveld, the Silver Stars third round pick (27th overall) in this year's WNBA Draft, played in one preseason game finishing with 7 points and 4 rebounds vs. Los Angeles on May 6. A 6'4" forward from the University of Oregon, Kraayeveld earned All-Pac 10 First Team as a senior averaging a team-high 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds a game.

Williams, a 5'9" guard, spent the 2004 season with the Silver Stars appearing in 26 games. For the season she averaged 2.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.35 steals in 16.0 minutes per game. San Antonio originally selected Williams with the 34th overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft.

The Silver Stars roster currently stands at 16 players. Fourteen players are currently in camp (Lindsey Yamasaki is out with a torn right Achilles tendon) while two are finishing out their seasons overseas or fulfilling their national team obligations. Final roster cut-downs must be made on May 20. San Antonio can carry a maximum of 13 players on its regular season roster, 11 active and two on injured reserve.

The Silver Stars are currently getting ready for the 2005 season with training camp taking place at the Antioch Sports Complex and Community Center. San Antonio opens the 2005 regular season at the SBC Center on Saturday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. when Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets come to town.

Saturday's game will be the first of eight games televised on KRRT WB-35. The "Voice of the Silver Stars" Andrew Monaco will handle the play-by-play action during the broadcasts while Fran Harris returns for her third season to provide color commentary.
