Silver Stars Sign Ziomara Morrison

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed center Ziomara Morrison, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. As per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

"We are excited about Ziomara coming to San Antonio," Hughes said. "She is a gifted rebounder and a talented young post player."

A 23-year old 6-4 center, Morrison will be making her WNBA debut with the Silver Stars after playing internationally for the past five seasons. Currently a member of Spain's Burgos, Morrison is averaging 13.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game through 21 Spanish League LFB contests. Last season, she helped lead Burgos to the Spanish LFB Group B title, averaging 15.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 54.4 percent from the field through 25 games.

A native of Santiago, Chile, Morrison has been a member of the Chilean National Senior Women's Team since 2006. She most recently represented Chile at the FIBA South American Championships, averaging 18.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game through four tournament games.

The Silver Stars open the 2012 season on May 19 at Tulsa before tipping off the home schedule against the Chicago Sky on May 30 at 7 p.m. Ticket plans for the 2012 season start at $180 and are available online at SASilverStars.com or by calling (210) 444-5090.
