TULSA, Okla. (February 27, 2012) - The Tulsa Shock have signed 2010 first round pick Jene Morris, President Steve Swetoha announced earlier today.

Morris, a San Diego State standout, was selected 11th overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2010 WNBA Draft. Morris appeared in 25 games for the Fever in 2010, averaging 2.9 points in 7.8 minutes a game.

"We are excited to have Jene join the Shock," Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg said. "She is a talented player with great speed and quickness and has the ability to score. She was a first round pick in our league and has continued to develop her game overseas. She is a great young talent that has an opportunity to develop into a productive guard in the WNBA."

Morris played three seasons at San Diego State (2007-2010) where she averaged 24.2 points and 3.2 steals in five NCAA tournament games. Morris was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference in both her junior and senior seasons.

"We believe Jene will add the depth to our backcourt this season," President Steve Swetoha said. "We have been interested in signing her since the onset of free agency and are excited to see her in a Shock uniform this season."

Morris played for Girona in Spain this past off-season where she averaged 9.6 points and 1.3 steals in 17.9 minutes a game.
