Silver Stars Sign Three

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed forwards Ify Ibekwe and Kalisha Keane and center Latoya Williams, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. The addition of the trio brings the Silver Stars roster to 13, heading towards 2012 training camp. As per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

A 6-2 forward, Ibekwe was selected by Seattle in the second round (24th overall) of the 2011 WNBA Draft and played in three games with the Storm last season. She began the 2011-12 offseason with Belgium's Dexia Namur where she averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game through 12 domestic league contests and 21.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in EuroCup play. A two-time Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Ibekwe moved to play with Spain's Burgos beginning in February.

The 2011 Big Ten Player of the Year at Michigan State, Keane has spent the 2011-12 offseason with Croatia's Gospic CO where she has averaged 8.1 points and 3.7 rebounds through 14 EuroLeague games. The 6-1 forward is also a member of the Canadian Senior Women's National Team, most recently helping Team Canada to a third-place finish at the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship where she averaged 7.5 points and 3.0 rebounds through six games.

A 6-4 center, Williams has been playing professional overseas for three seasons, after earning a pair of NJCAA All-America nods at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla. Currently playing with Greece's Esperides, Williams is averaging 22.8 points and 14.5 rebounds per game through 15 games. She has also played internationally with Israel's Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Poland's MUKS Poznan and Serbia's Partizan.
