Silver Stars Sign Loree Moore

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed WNBA veteran Loree Moore, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"I am truly excited, thankful and blessed about this great opportunity," Moore said. "Not only do I get to be part of a great organization with tremendous fans but reconnect with some great people and friends of mine in Vickie Johnson, Becky Hammon, Shameka Christon and Tangela Smith. I've always followed the Silver Stars and admired what Dan Hughes has done in San Antonio over the years."

A 5-9 guard, Moore played five seasons with the New York Liberty (2005-09) with stints alongside current Silver Stars Shameka Christon, Becky Hammon and assistant coach Vickie Johnson. She played in 155 career games for the Liberty, making 123 starts while averaging 6.0 points, 3.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. Moore was originally selected by the Liberty in the first round (10th overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft.

Moore signed with Seattle in 2010, but missed the season while rehabbing a knee injury sustained during training camp. She participated in training camp with the Los Angeles Sparks last season.

A native of Carson, Calif., Moore is currently playing with Russia's Chevakata where she is averaging 3.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game through 14 Russian League games and 3.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.1 assists through 10 EuroCup games this season. Moore has also played internationally in Turkey.

Moore graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2005 after helping lead the Lady Vols to Final Four appearances in each of her four seasons. She finished her collegiate career averaging 6.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

The Silver Stars open the 2012 season on May 19 at Tulsa before tipping off the home schedule against the Chicago Sky on May 30 at 7 p.m. Ticket plans for the 2012 season start at $180 and are available online at SASilverStars.com or by calling (210) 444-5090.
