Silver Stars re-sign Dalma-Ivanyi

SAN ANTONIO - Silver Stars Head Coach and General Manager Dan Hughes announced today that the team has re-signed Dalma Ivanyi to a free-agent contract. Per team policy terms of the deal have not been released.

Ivanyi, a 5'9" guard, played in 30 games for the Silver Stars in 2005, averaging 2.5 points, 2.3 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game. She led the team in three-point shooting connecting on 44.4 percent (20-45) from beyond the arc.

"We are extremely happy to have Dalma returning for 2006," Hughes said. "She was a key contributor to the Silver Stars last season and was one of our most consistent shooters from the perimeter. We are looking forward to having her in a Silver Stars uniform again this season."

A native of Hungary, Ivanyi is currently playing for MiZo-Pecsi VSK in the FIBA EuroLeague for Women and the Hungarian Women's League along with her new Silver Stars teammate Vickie Johnson. She has played for Pecsi in seven EuroLeague competitions, and this year she has helped guide the team into the EuroLeague Quarterfinals. For the season Ivanyi has started all 13 games, averaging 12.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, earning her a spot on the EuroLeague All-Star Team. Last year she helped lead Pecsi to the EuroLeague Final Four and to the Hungarian League title.

The Silver Stars will start the WNBA's 10th Anniversary season on the road when they rekindle their intrastate rivalry with the Houston Comets on May 21. Fans will be able to listen to every Silver Stars game on The Ticket 760 AM and selected games will be televised on KABB WB-35.
