Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights have completed their third season with a strong end of season effort that resulted in the club making the MISL Playoffs for the first time. The Knight's fell in the first round to the reigning champion Baltimore Blast this past Tuesday in a spirited best of three series.
On Sunday February 23, 2014 the Silver Knights wore specialty Green Jersey sponsored by Kitty Hoyne's Irish Pub & Restaurant, Aspen Dental & Carlsberg. The Green Jerseys were auctioned off following the game with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the 2014 Syracuse St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The Silver Knights will be marching in the 2014 St. Patrick Parade and will be presenting a check in the amount of $2500.00 to the Syracuse St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee on behalf of the team and the Silver Knight Foundation, the charitable arm of the Silver Knights.
"Part of being in the Syracuse sports community has always been giving back for the Knights" said Silver Knight Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Allen LaVenture. "One of our missions from the beginning has been to be involved, from camps, clinics, our anti-bullying in-school message to these specialty jersey auctions." The Silver Knights from their first season have used these specialty jerseys to benefit local charities such as; The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, The Crouse Health Foundation, and Hope For Heather. This year the Knights decided to wear a Green Jersey to benefit the St. Patrick's Day Parade. "Syracuse's Parade is a huge celebration for families and kids to come together, these are the same fans who come out and support the team. When we were deciding on the organization and theme for this year's specialty jerseys the St. Patrick's Day Parade was a perfect fit." added LaVenture.
The Silver Knights will be bringing a "giant" check to the parade and the Silver Knight himself will present it to Janet Higgins as they pass the viewing stand during Saturday's celebration.
