Louisville, KY (May 5th, 2015) - Louisville City FC has announced today that the first player to be sent to the club from it's affiliate in Orlando will be forward Sidney Rivera. Taken in the 4th round of the 2015 MLS Superdraft, Rivera will be another solid option upfront for Louisville City.

"We're really pleased to welcome Sidney back to the squad," O'Connor said. "He's just recovering from an injury, so we'll have to be patient and manage that."

Rivera played four years at Old Dominion, scoring nine goals in his senior season to lead the Monarchs. The 6-foot-2, 185 pound forward was named the Conference USA Tournament Offensive MVP. The Hampton, New Jersey native scored eight goals in his final seven collegiate appearances.

While in college, Rivera played in the NPSL for Virginia Beach City FC. VBCFC only lost one game and qualified for the 2015 U.S. Open Cup in Rivera's final season with the club.

"As a striker I'm very goal hungry," Rivera said. "I want to score goals, work hard and help continue to win games. I know that my time in Louisville will help me continue to learn and grow as a player under James (O'Connor).

The 21-year-old will join Matt Fondy, Nate Polak, and Ilija Ilic as the fourth forward on Louisville City FC's roster.

Louisville City FC is a professional soccer team founded in 2014. The United Soccer League was founded in 2010 and has expanded to 24 teams for the 2015 season. Louisville City FC plays all home matches at Louisville Slugger Field in downtown Louisville.
