
Sidewinders Jump Out To Big Lead, Hold On For Win

Albuquerque, NM - The Sidewinders raced out to a 7-1 lead and held on for a 12-9 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Friday night.
Jamie D'Antona went 5 for 5 with a homer and three RBI while Josh Whitesell and Alex Romero also homered a collected three RBI. Emilio Bonifacio had three hits and scored two runs.
Leading 7-1 after an inning and a half, the Sidewinders saw Albuquerque storm back to tie the game at seven in the bottom of the fifth. Tucson answered back in the top of the sixth as Trent Oeltjen had a sacrifice fly and Whitesell drilled a two run homer to left to put the Sidewinders back in front 10-7.
Evan MacLane earned the win with five innings of work. MacLane (1-2) allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits.
Jailen Peguero preserved Tucson's advantage with one and two-thirds out of the bullpen. Peguero stranded the tying run when he induced a double play ball in the seventh and stranded a pair in scoring position in the eighth.
Leo Rosales worked the ninth for his third save of the season.
The Sidewinders and Isotopes play game two of their series on Saturday night at Isotopes Park. Right-hander Esmerling Vasquez (0-0, 6.00) starts for Tucson. Albuquerque's starter is TBA. First pitch is at 6:05 Tucson time. The game will air LIVE on COOL 1450 beginning at 5:55.
