The Tucson Sidewinders blew-out the Sacramento RiverCats for the second straight day as they put a season high 13 runs on the board. LHP Casey Fossum (1-0) earned the win for Tucson as he limited the RiverCats to 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5. The win caused a series split between the two teams and a 2.5 game lead in the South for Tucson (14-9) over Sacramento (12-12).

Every batter in Tucson's line-up had at least one hit, and 7 had at least two as the Sidewinders pounded out a season high 17 hits. The only home run of the day came from 1B Steve Neal, a 3-run blast over the right field wall in the bottom of the 6th. The shot was Neal's first of the season. Tucson hit 3 triples on the day, one each from 2B Scott Hairston, 3B Andy Green, and DH Alan Zinter. The only 3-hit day came from new addition, RF Noochie Varner as he went 3-5, with 2 R, and an RBI. Scott Hairston drove in 3 with his 2 hits.

For Sacramento, RHP Steve Woodard (3-1) picked up his 1st loss of the season as he let 7 Sidewinders cross the plate, allowing 7 hits and walking 4 in 4.2 innings. The RiverCats managed only 3 hits against the Tucson staff and have scored just one run in the last 2 games.

The Sidewinders managed to split their home stand at 4-4. They hit the road for a 4-game series in Las Vegas starting tomorrow night at 7:10 PM. The probables feature RHP Edgar Gonzalez (1-2, 5.48) for Tucson versus RHP Joel Hanrahan (1-1, 3.48) for Las Vegas. Attendance for Sunday was 2,796, and game time was 2:37.
