Sidekicks down Philadelphia, 6-5, in double overtime

PHILADELPHIA - Beau Brown scored at 3:20 of double overtime to put the Sidekicks past the Philadelphia Kixx at the Wachovia Spectrum on Sunday. This is the first double overtime victory for the Sidekicks since February 19, 1989 when the Sidekicks won 4-3 at Kansas City.

Nick Stavrou scored the equalizer with only 10 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Kiley Couch cut Philadelphia's lead to one with his tenth goal of the season at 10:31 of the fourth quarter with an assist from Ricardinho, his second of the game.

Kixx player/coach Don D'Ambra gave Philadelphia (19-15) their two-goal lead with a power play goal at 3:43 of the fourth. Philadelphia was given the power play opportunity when Kixx defender Mauricio Vincello and Dallas' Ricardinho were both given yellow cards for an altercation at 3:06 of the fourth. The five minute penalty was the third for Dallas in the game, resulting in a two minute penalty against the Sidekicks.

Drew Kopp gave the Kixx their second two-goal lead of the game when he found the back of the net at 8:25 of the third quarter. David Doyle pulled Dallas to within one with his second tally of the game on a shoot-out at 13:17 to finish the third quarter down 4-3.

Joel Shanker tallied on Philadelphia's second man-advantage situation at 3:56 to open up the second quarter scoring. Shanker scored just nine seconds after Eric Dade was put in the box for dangerous play. It was the first of three blue cards Dallas would receive in the second. Head Coach Tatu was also given his first red card ejection as a coach for dissent at 8:25.

David Doyle opened up the scoring at 2:37 of the first on a restart from Ricardinho. Goran Vasic answered with two goals at 3:00 and 7:49 respectively to give the Kixx their first lead of the game. Patrick Shamu tallied his 18th goal of the season at 8:09 to go into the second quarter tied 2-2.

This is the first road victory for the Sidekicks (20-14) on the East Coast since joining the MISL in 2002.

The Sidekicks have two games remaining in the regular season. Their final regular season home game is against St. Louis Saturday April 3 at 7:05 p.m. They will travel to Monterrey for the finale Sunday April 4 at 6:35 p.m. All games are on KSKY 660 AM. The Sidekicks have clinched the third seed in the playoffs and will host the team that finishes sixth in the MISL overall standings. The first playoff game will be at Reunion Arena Saturday April 10 at 7:35 p.m.
