Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades announced today that forward DENNIS SICARD has been cleared by the team doctors to play and could be in the lineup as early as this weekend. Sicard had been out for a month after having surgery to repair a broken wrist injured when he went into the boards in Twin City.

The team also announced that forward MAT GOODY has decided to retire and is returning to Canada. Goody played in 8 games with the Renegades this season beginning December 6th. The team was 1-5-2 with him in the lineup. In his eight games Goody had 2 goals and 1 assist and was a minus 3. He accumulated 50 penalty minutes during his time with the team. Goody was scheduled to come off a 12 game league suspension that was imposed for his actions during a game Christmas day in Fayetteville.

"It is a bittersweet day for us with Dennis returning and Mat retiring," stated Renegades President Allan B. Harvie, Jr. "We have enjoyed Mat's presence on the team and so have the fans. He brought a lot of excitement when he was on the ice. Several of our fans brought in money to assist Mat in paying his league fines and now that he is retiring we will be returning that money back to them today."

The Renegades have an extremely busy home schedule this week facing Huntsville on Wacky White Wednesday and the next hottest team in the league, the Jacksonville Barracudas on Friday and Saturday nights. Jacksonville has won their last 7 in a row and has the highest winning percentage in the league.

Friday night is Graffitti Ink night with the first 2,000 fans receiving a poster featuring Mat Goody, Denis Sicard, Dan Vandermeer and Marty Kloucek. It's also 2, 3, 4 and More night and you can skate with the players following the game. Saturday is UKROP's UVC discount card night and Richmond International Raceway/NASCAR Night. The first 2,000 fans will receive the third set of player cards courtesy of www.wellnesshealthcoach.com. A special race jersey will be worn by the Renegades with the jerseys being auctioned off at the end of the game. A portion of the jersey sale will be going to Children's Miracle Network.

Tickets, gift certificates, flex paks and sponsorships are available by calling the Renegades office at 804-644-PUCK (7825). Additional information is available online at the team website www.rrenegades.com.
