Game Notes

-Fort Wayne forward Mathieu Curadeau leads all scorers in the post-season with six points (3-3=6) and has scored the game winning goal in each Komets game so far. Fort Wayne leads Bloomington 2-0 in their series with a chance to close things out Wednesday night in Fort Wayne. With their Game One win, the Komets have now won the opener in five straight playoff series'.

-The Sundogs 2-1 overtime win in Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday night was the ‚¬ËœDogs first playoff win since May 8, 2008 when they finished their sweep of the Colorado Eagles winning the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Championship. The Sundogs missed the playoffs in 2009 and 2010.

-Wichita can win their series versus the Missouri Mavericks on Tuesday night as they lead two games to one. It would mark the first series win for the Thunder since they beat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in seven games in the 2005 CHL Playoffs. The Thunder won that series thanks to an overtime goal in Game Seven by Scott Allison. Wichita will be without Robin Richards in Tuesday's game as he has been suspended for one game because of a charging major penalty in the early going of Game Two.

-Chris Whitley cruised through the Opening Round going 3-0 for the Allen Americans allowing just five goals on 97 shots (.943 save percentage). In just his second pro season, Whitley has already played in 23 playoff games going 13-10 in those games with a 2.86 goals against average.

-The Allen Americans never trailed in their three-game sweep of the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and were tied for just 41:32 of the 180 minutes played in the three games. Judd Blackwater scored four goals and leads the Americans with five points (4-1=5) overall.

-Entering the game with the Rush trailing 3-0 to Dayton, Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 34 of 35 shots allowing his team to come back and win Game One, 5-4, in their series with the Gems. The win was the first post-season victory for Boron since May 23, 2007 when he won the Cup clinching Game Six for the Colorado Eagles versus the Laredo Bucks.

-Fort Wayne and Rapid City have had the most impressive power plays in the early going of the Opening Round with the Komets converting five of 11 chances (45.5%) and the Rush striking four times in nine chances (44.4%). At the other end of the spectrum, Arizona is without a PP goal in seven chances and the RGV Killer Bees, already eliminated by Allen, failed to convert on 12 power play opportunities.

-Odessa's Philippe Plante and Allen's Jonathon Zion have each scored two goals in the playoffs so far leading the way for all defensemen in goal scoring. Both of Plante's came in a 5-2 Game Two win for the Jacks over the Texas Brahmas on Saturday night. The Jacks and Brahmas meet in the playoffs for the third straight season with each team winning one of the previous series'.

-Both Colorado/Quad City games went to overtime over the weekend with each team winning once. The Mallards won Game One on Brandon Marino's OT winner and the Eagles took Game Two with Daymen Rycroft scoring just over a minute into the OT. The Flock led Game Two by two goals on three occasions but scores by Riley Nelson and Joe Grimaldi in the third period tied things up and gave the Eagles the win to even the series up. The win ended a string of eight straight playoff losses for the Eagles.

-Arizona's Scott Reid made 24 saves in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win in Bossier-Shreveport marking his first playoff win since 2009 when he was with the Rocky Mountain Rage. That win also came against the Mudbugs with Reid making 49 saves in a 4-3 loss. The veteran is 12-13 with a 2.41 goals against average and four shutouts in his CHL post-season career.
