Shooting Starz meet checkered flag at championship race
November 2, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Miami, FL. Starz in Motion announced today that the final rounds of the inaugural Shooting Starz talent competition will be held at Homestead-Miami Speedway during the last two days of Ford Championship Weekend Nov 18-19.
Winners from Starz in Motion competitions across the nation, most held in conjunction with ABA teams, will be treated to an all expense paid trip to Miami to compete in the final round. These lucky winners will stay at the luxurious Downtown Miami Courtyard Marriott during their stay in beautiful Miami, where they will enjoy top notch accommodations with a scenic downtown setting.
The competition will take place on the Budweiser Entertainment stage at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where they will entertain race fans from all over the country. On Sat, Nov 18, the group of finalists will perform together for the last time and will then be narrowed down to just three contestants. These three will battle it out on Sun, Nov 19, when a single champion will be crowned.
According to Angela Rizzi, the Executive Director of Starz in Motion, "The setting that Homestead-Miami Speedway provides is a base of enormous exposure to undiscovered talent, while at the same time provides a stage for unique entertainment to the fans. We are thrilled with the sponsors that have embraced Starz in Motion in our first season. We are looking forward to many exciting opportunities in the future which will allow us to gain exposure for talented individuals that need a place to showcase their talents."
Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray added, "The Starz in Motion competition is an exciting addition to Ford Championship Weekend. This is the first time that we will actually have two major competitions going on in one day, and the first time that Homestead-Miami Speedway will crown two champions on Sunday - one on the stage and one on the track."
The grand prize winner of Starz in Motion will go home with prizes such as an acoustic guitar from Epiphone Guitars, studio time, and the opportunity for the professional production of original music. The other contestants who participated in the local competitions through the ABA teams over the past year will have the opportunity to entertain at their local ABA games throughout the season. As a supportive sponsor of Starz in Motion, the ABA continues to provide an entertainment opportunity to local talent, both on and off the basketball court.
