Rochester RazorSharks News Release
It was the shooters' turn to run practice. It was what you might expect. Guards Keith Friel and Todd McCoy put together a practice that was long on shots and short on contact.
"We wanted to get a lot of reps up and still get a workout," said Friel who comes from a family of coaches. "We got some good conditioning in and doing game-like shots on the move off the bounce. We saved a little contact. I'm sure we'll be getting that the next two days."
Rochester RazorShark coach Rod Baker gave the practice to Friel and McCoy, after last week doing the same for his three point guards. On Friday, the forwards get a crack at the agenda. The players become a little more vested in the program.
Practice Monday ended with an old fashioned game of Knockout. The players line up with two basketballs. Starting from the three point circle, facing elimination, each had to make a shot before the player behind him in the rotation did.
The competition came down to the two big men, starting power forward Eric Walton and center Jared Carter. Walton won.
"There isn't any secret," claimed the champ. "You just put up shots. I don't like to brag. It is what it is."
"Air Show" Walton isn't shy about taking shots in games. A fact not lost on his teammates.
"He likes to shoot a lot," said McCoy. "So I'm not surprised he won."
