Auburn Hills, MI -The Detroit Shock announced today that they have teamed up with Girls Empowered to host a Leadership Camp for girls ages 6 to 14 from July 25-29 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. WNBA All-Stars Swin Cash and Ruth Riley will be on hand to help give tomorrow's leaders the confidence and experience they need to follow their dreams.

The five-day camp encourages self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image and ways to achieve optimal health through exercise and nutrition. Each day's activities will run from 1 - 4 p.m.

Cost for the camp is $150 and includes a free camp T-shirt and ticket to the July 31 Shock game against Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.

"The Shock believes in teaching many of the values that helped make each of us the people and players that we are today," said Riley, "and we're happy to be hosting this Leadership Camp in conjunction with Girls Empowered in an effort to instill those same values into future generations."

"Leadership Camp also ties into our whole theme this year of 'It's Personal,'" added Cash. "We take our responsibility as role models seriously, and interacting with these young ladies is another great way for us to give back to the greater Detroit community."
