Spokane Shock News Release

The Spokane Shock announced today WR Steve Odom, 5'11" 185, and DS Robert Herbert, 6'1" 197, have been assigned to their 2008 roster.

Odom finished his collegiate career at the University of Toledo in 2006. Over his four-year career, Odom caught 216 passes, including a consecutive reception streak that lasted all 48 games of his career. After recording 62 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns in his first season, he was named to the Freshman All-American Team.

"Steve Odom is the first receiver that we have signed in what should be another deep receiving core," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "Steve has the ability to be a premier receiver in this league and I'm glad he will be in a Shock uniform."

Herbert was a two-year starter at Colorado State University. In 2005, he started in all 12 games and collected 72 total tackles (56 solo, and 16 assists) with 3 interceptions and nine pass break-ups. In 2006, the Sporting News listed him as the 11th best cornerback in the nation.

"Robert Herbert is one of those players who just has a knack for getting to the ball," Shackleford said. "Our defense was a key component in several wins last season and a player like Herbert can make those same contributions."
