Detroit Shock News Release
As the 2006 WNBA Playoffs approach, NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad takes a look at players who are gearing up for a postseason run. This Saturday, August 5th at 1 PM viewers will get an all-access look at Detroit All-Star Katie Smith as the Shock take a rare bus trip to the game in Grand Rapids, MI. Katie and her teammates show off their fun side as they approach a serious task: reclaiming the championship form that earned them a ring in 2003.
Speaking of that 2003 Championship, the Detroit Shock's worst to first season is one of the five nominees this week in the voting for the Greatest Inspirational Moment in WNBA history. Who could forget the championship run that earned them a title in dramatic fashion. They lost Game 1 in Los Angeles and barely squeaked out a victory in Game 2. But, it was Deanna Nolan's three-pointer in the final moments of Game 3 that sealed the championship for the Shock in front of 22,076 fans, the largest crowd in WNBA history. Visit www.detroitshock.com to vote for your Detroit Shock!
The Shock tip-off tonight vs. New York at Madison Square Garden! Check out the action on NBA TV at 7:30 PM.
