SPOKANE, WA (January 18, 2012) - The Shock have been assigned defensive back Thad Turner to the 2013 roster.
Turner, a product of the Ohio University Bobcats, makes his AFL rookie debut with the Shock in the defensive secondary. In his senior season for the Bobcat's in 2009, Thad received first-team All-MAC honors with 60 total tackles (34 solo), one interception, and six pass break-ups. As a junior, Thad played in all 12 games (started 10) and recorded 37 tackles with six pass break-ups.
After playing four seasons with the Bobcats, Thad spent time with the CFL's Calgary Stampede in 2010 before earning opportunities with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. Prior to joining the Shock's roster, Thad was a member of the CFL's Hamilton Tigers roster during the 2012 season.
"He's a player we've had our eye on for quite a while. He's physical, can press well and should be a good fit in Coach Franks' secondary," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
