Spokane Shock News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. (October 17, 2014) - The Shock have been assigned defensive backs Antareis Bryan and Jeff Richards to the 2015 roster.

Antareis Bryan (6-2, 195, Baylor) will rejoin the Shock in 2015 after spending a majority of the 2014 season with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. Prior to the CFL, Bryan joined Spokane for his rookie season in the AFL in 2013.

Bryan played his collegiate career at Baylor University (TX) where he started in seven games and saw action in a total of 34 contests as a defensive back. After redshirting in 2006 Bryan went on to play the next four seasons and record 52 solo tackles, 19 assisted tackles, four tackles for loss, one forced fumble, 15 pass breakups and two interceptions. After his collegiate career, Bryan participated in numerous workouts with NFL teams such as the Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, and Chicago Bears.

"Antareis' raw athletic ability makes him a prime candidate for the arena football league," said Shock Head Coach Andy Olson. "We were fortunate enough to get a look at him in 2013 and with his development as a defensive back in the CFL, are fortunate to have him back in Spokane."

Jeff Richards (6-2, 200, Emporia State) joins the Shock for his first season as a member of the Arena Football League. Richards began his collegiate career at Northeastern State University (OK) before transferring to Emporia State University (KS). During his sophomore season at NSU, prior to transferring, Richards recorded 59 tackles and two interceptions. He would go on to complete his junior and senior seasons at Emporia where he would rack up 91 tackles and six interceptions. After completing his collegiate career, Richards worked out with the NFL's New York Jets and CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

"Richards is a versatile athlete with the ability to play multiple positions in the defensive secondary," said Shock Head Coach Andy Olson. "We're looking forward to bringing him into Training Camp and seeing him compete."
