
Shock Announce 2011 Dance Team Tryouts

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock will be holding an open tryout for the 2011 Dance Team on January 9th at 1 PM. The final round of the tryout will take place on January 20th.
The first round will be held at the Shock Center (3212 N. Eden Road) on January 9th beginning at 1 PM. The tryout will begin with a brief orientation after which Dance Team Director Maggie Kazemba will teach the applicants a dance routine. The participants will perform the routine for Kazemba and a small panel of judges. Those who are selected to advance will be interviewed and will perform at the finals.
The final round of the tryouts will be held at the Knitting Factory, 919 West Sprague Ave. and will be open to the public. Admission to the all-ages event will be available through TicketsWest at http://ticketswest.rdln.com or at the Knitting Factory's Box Office any night it is open for an event.
Registration forms are available now at www.spokaneshock.com. The cost of the tryout is $25 for those who preregister or $35 on January 9th.
Kazemba will be holding "Prep Classes" at Spokane Elite Dance Studio, 10623 E. Sprague Ave Suite C. Each class will focus on a specific aspect of dance and will help the participant's fine tune their skills. The classes will be offered on December 11th (Pom routine) from 1-2:30, December 18thazz routine) from 1-2:30, and on January 8th (Hip-Hop routine) from 1-2:30. Each class is $15 or all three classes can be purchased for $30.
"This is the first time we have offered prep classes before our tryouts and we really think it will help out the participants" Kazemba explained. "We had a great team last year and we are looking forward to making an even better team in 2011."
