Spokane Shock News Release
SPOKANE, WA (May 7, 2014) - The Spokane Shock have been assigned two quarterbacks in Dennis Havrilla and Donovan Porterie. In addition, Erik Meyer has been placed on injured reserve.
Havrilla (6-1, 195), a product of Western New Mexico, was most recently with the Dodge City Law of the CPIFL and has also spent time with the Arizona Adrenaline and Bricktown Brawlers of the IFL. In 2009 while with the WNM Mustangs Havrilla threw for 1,581 yards and 13 touchdowns in nine games. Also a threat on the ground, he rushed 88 times for 433 yards (3.2 average) and scored six touchdowns. While at Western New Mexico, Havrilla shared the field with wide receiver Rod Windsor of the Arizona Rattlers.
Porterie (6-4, 220), who played his college ball at New Mexico, most recently played for the Green Bay Blizzard of the IFL. In four years with the Lobos, Porterie completed 614 of 1,058 pass attempts (58 percent) for 6,756 yards and 33 touchdowns. In 2012 with the Blizzard he threw for 1,990 yards and 44 touchdowns and led an offense that finished third in the IFL in points scored (56.2).
"I like that they both have indoor experience and they both have played in the IFL," Shock Head Coach Andy Olson said. "Dennis did some good things while in camp with us, so I was able to see his development over a couple of weeks. Porterie was in camp with the Pittsburgh Power, so he has had the same experience."
Tickets for the Shock's home game on Friday, May 9 against the Pittsburgh Power can be purchased for as low as $14 by visiting SpokaneShock.com.
