Shock add Kicker
March 31st, 2010 - Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that K Taylor Rowan has joined the 2010 roster. Rowan, 6-1 190, spent the 2009 season with the af2's Arkansas Twisters and the UFL's New York Sentinels.
Rowan appeared in one game for the Sentinels and played in the final six games of the season for the Arkansas Twisters. With the Twisters, Rowan converted 2/3 field goal attempts and over 80% of his point-after-attempts (36/44).
"In Arena Football, you can't underestimate the importance of special teams," Head Coach Rob Keefe said. "Taylor Rowan has very strong leg and he is extremely accurate; you can't ask for much more from your kicker."
In his four year career at Western Illinois University, Rowan played in 44 games and scored 283 career points. As a senior, Rowan set a new FCS record for most consecutive PATs in a career (129) and was a first team All-Conference selection. Rowan owns six of the school's ten longest kick records, including a career long 56-yard kick that he converted in his junior season.
Rowan and the rest of the Shock will begin the 2010 season Friday night as they host the Milwaukee Iron on Spokane Tribe Field. Plenty of great seats are still available and can be purchased through TicketsWest. Season tickets are also on sale and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
