Spokane Shock News Release

October 10, 2007 - The Spokane Shock announced today DL Ben Siegert, 6-4 288, and DL Ray Gant, 6-2 289, have been added to their 2008 roster.

Siegert finished his collegiate career in 2006 after spending four seasons at Oregon State University. During his four-years as a Beaver, Siegert tallied 86 total tackles with 7 1/2 sacks. A Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 2006, Siegert holds the OSU record for blocked kicks in a single game, blocking two - including the game-winning field goal attempt with 20 seconds left - against state rival Oregon.

Gant also finished his collegiate career in 2006 as a Georgia Bulldog. He appeared in 44 games and racked up 85 tackles. His senior season, Gant came up with two sacks and three tackles against #5 Auburn. At his NFL Pro-Day workout, Gant registered a 4.9 second time in the 40-yard dash with a 30 inch vertical leap.

"Gant and Siegert both played at big-time college programs and they have proven that they are ready for an opportunity to play at the professional level," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "Both of them are able to use their size and strength to penetrate the offensive line and put pressure on Quarterbacks."
