Spokane Shock News Release

February 3, 2009: Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DB Virgil Gray has been added to their 2009 roster.

Gray, 5-11 188, spent last season - his rookie year - with the Lubbock Renegades leading the team in tackles (85.5) and interceptions (8) and finishing second in pass break-ups (25).

"I'm a playmaker and I'm going to try to lead the team in interceptions," Gray said. "I read that Sergio is coming back and he would like to break the record that he set last year. That's the same mentality I have; I'm going to try to break that record too."

Last season, against the Shock in Lubbock (on May 3rd) Gray recorded 4.5 tackles, four pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery. For his efforts, he was selected as the ADT Defensive Player of the Game.

"Virgil Gray is a versatile player who can play at all three positions in the secondary," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "We are excited that he wants to come and play for Spokane."
