Sheridan, Du Toit in Line for Season Debuts as Arrows Travel to New York

March 26, 2022 - Major League Rugby (MLR)
Toronto Arrows News Release

HOBOKEN, NJ - Toronto Arrows Head Coach Peter Smith has named his starting lineup for Sunday's clash with Rugby New York.

Brock Webster shifts from wing to fullback to cover for the injured Conor McCann, while John Sheridan makes his season debut as he fills the vacancy at wing. The remainder of the starting lineup is unchanged from the personnel who kicked off last week's victory in Utah.

Canadian international Guiseppe du Toit is in contention to make his first appearance of the season, as he and Lolani Faleiva have both been activated off the IR and will look to make an impact off the bench.

Twelve players are currently listed on the injured reserve and are unavailable for selection.

Squad Notes:

Twelve squad members are full Canadian internationals: Braude (8 caps), Brouwer (11 caps), Ciulini (8 caps), du Toit (14 caps), Keith (24 caps), Kelly (1 cap), Nott (2 caps), Quattrin (13 caps), Rowland (6 caps), Rumball (43 caps), Sheppard (11 caps), Webster (5 caps)

Twelve players are on the injured reserve and are unavailable for selection: Baillie, Brown, de la Vega, Faust, A. Ferguson, B. Ferguson, Flesch, Hood, Jones, Mieres, McCann, Wadden

The Arrows (3-3; 15 points) hold a 2-2 all-time record against New York (5-1; 24 points), with the two sides taking a win apiece in both 2019 and 2021. The clash on June 2, 2019 - the iconic Drop Goal game, in which Toronto earned a 22-20 victory - holds significance for two major reasons: the outcome clinched a post-season berth in the Arrows' inaugural season, and it was also the last time a MLR regular season game was played in Toronto (a duration of 1,028 days, as of Mar. 26, 2022).

Saturday's game will kick off at 3 p.m. ET. The Eastern Conference tilt will stream on TSN.ca and the TSN App for Canadian audiences, and will be available on The Rugby Network for international audiences.
