Shelley King to Perform on June 14

June 12, 2003 - American Professional Football League (APFL) - Beaumont Drillers News Release

(Beaumont, TX) (June 12, 2003) Lemonade Records recording artist Shelley King will perform the national anthem at the June 14th Beaumont Drillers – Enid Crude National Indoor Football League game to be held at the Beaumont Civic Center.

King, on tour, promoting her follow up CD, will be performing later that evening at the Log-On Café in Beaumont. Her debut CD earned her numerous awards at the 2002 Austin Music Awards, including Song of the Year for “Call of My Heart.”

Raised on gospel music while living in rural Arkansas with her grandparents, King began to develop her vocal style. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Sam Houston State University studying English and speech communication with the intent of going on to law school. Playing with her band in Houston on weekends, led her back to music.

In 1992, she moved to Austin and released her debut CD Call of My Heart in 1997.

In addition to KingÂ’s performance, the Drillers will honor Flag Day by presenting the first 500 fans with an American flag.

Kids under the age of 12 will receive free admission with a paying adult and will have a chance to win breakfast for four on FatherÂ’s Day courtesy of the Beaumont Hilton. Kinsel Ford will once again be giving a lucky fan a chance to kick for a new Ford Ranger.

For more information contact the Drillers office at 409-840-9229. Game Day tickets can be purchased at the Beaumont Civic Center Box Office. The Box Office opens at noon on game day. For ticket information call 409-838-3435.
