New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, are excited to announce that Shaun Meredith has been hired as the team's new Head Turf Manager. Meredith comes to the Fisher Cats after spending the past three seasons on the turf crew of the State College (PA) Spikes (Short-Season-A New York-Penn League). He replaces Eric Blanton as the Fisher Cats Head Turf Manager. Blanton, who served in his position for four seasons, takes on the same post with the Reno (NV) Aces, the new Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"We are very proud of Eric and will certainly miss him, but we are also excited to welcome Shaun to the Fisher Cats family," said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "We take a lot of pride in keeping the field at Stadium in great condition all year, and after an extensive search, we are confident that Shaun has the experience and dedication necessary to maintain our commitment to excellence in turf management."

"I am very excited and happy to have the opportunity to take care of a field for a great organization, team and city," said Meredith. "I have heard nothing but good things about New Hampshire, Manchester and the Fisher Cats, and I can't wait to meet new people and make new friends."

Meredith finished the 2008 season as the Spikes Head Turf Manager following nearly three years as their Assistant Turf Manager. In 2006, State College's Medlar Field was named the NY-Penn League Field of the Year. Prior to working with the Spikes, Shaun was a member of the Beaver Stadium grounds crew at Penn State University, handling multiple sports and complexes between 2004 and 2005. He held an internship with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the summer of 2004, working closely with the Sports Turf Manager at PNC Park. Meredith graduated from Penn State in 2005 with a B.S. in Turfgrass Science.

All 2009 Fisher Cats Season Tickets, mini-plan ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now at, in person at Stadium and by calling (603) 641-2005.
