Harrisburg Senators News Release
Since the announcement in December of a two-phase $45 million renovation project to Commerce Bank Park the excitement has continued to build on City Island. With the 2009 home opener just over two months away, the Senators have more exciting news. Included in the first phase of the renovation project are four new picnic areas for groups and companies to enjoy. These new picnic areas will be located along the outfield boardwalk and will provide fans a completely new and unique view of the action on the field. With these additional picnic facilities, the Senators will have the ability to handle over 1,000 fans in all of their picnic areas.
One of the new areas is in right field below and in front of the new video board (See included picture). The Senators are installing more than 100 new seats above the right field fence, which will afford those fans a unique view of the game and an opportunity to catch a home run! The seats will also have access to a brand new bar being installed directly underneath the new video board. These new seats are all individual molded plastic seats much like the Senators existing box seats. The brand new boardwalk will be directly behind these seats, allowing fans in the right field seating area easy access to walk around the outfield.
As we take that outfield boardwalk tour and make our way all the way to the left field corner we find approximately 385 new seats that lead us to our second new picnic area for the 2009 season (See included picture). There will be four sections of seats with one section starting in foul territory and three sections into fair territory. These new seats are directly above the left field fence in front to the Senators new administration building. From home plate to the front row of seats is just over 320 feet which means you'll have to be awake or a home run ball could end up in your lap!
Along with the two areas of new permanent seats, there are also going to be two areas of picnic style seating (See included picture). On the boardwalk in the left and right center field areas, there will be picnic table seating for approximately 165 total people. The area in left center field will accommodate 65 and the area in right center field will accommodate 100. Both of these areas are available to groups of 20 or more.
Picnics, regardless of the area, are $20 and include a pre-game buffet and a ticket to the game. The buffet includes BBQ chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs along with baked beans, pasta and potato salad. Chips, cookies, soft drinks and water are all also included in the price! In addition, new for 2009 are alternate menu options for groups of 150 or more with appetizer, dessert and bar options.
