SharX Looking for Second Win Over Silver Knights

Norfolk, Virginia - After an eight-day rest, the Norfolk SharX take to the road again, this time to Syracuse to face the Silver Knights on February 9 at the Oncenter at 7 p.m. in the first of a home and home series for the two teams. Syracuse will then visit Norfolk on Tuesday, February 14 at 7 p.m. Thursday's match can be seen live at MISLLive.com.

The SharX, who have been playing shorthanded for the last few games due to key injuries, have lost their last five after winning three out of five. Their last win was over Syracuse on January 15 in New York when Matt Clare led the team with a hat trick, including the game-winner.

Returning to the team for Thursday's match is Norfolk's third leading scorer, Gersen Dos Santos, who has been in Brazil for the last month caring for his father. Also returning are Andrew Marshall and Brandon Massie who have been out with a hamstring and back injury respectively.

The SharX also signed defender Rob Acosta from the PDL Piranhas and Wartburg College where he was All-Conference and forward AJ Kulp from Old Dominion University and the Reading Rage. Acosta has been training with the SharX all season.

"It's good to get our players back that have been missing for so many reasons," said head coach Jon Hall. "It's been tough on the squad but we're a group that always looks forward and as we do with every game, we are going to go and try to win."

Miguel Ferrer leads the SharX in scoring with 36 points followed by Matt Clare with 31, Dos Santos with 26 and Matthew Delic�=A2te with 25. Ferrer is ranked 20th in the MISL in points and Clare is ranked 23 league-wide.

Syracuse, who should also be well rested after an eight-day break, is suffering through a six-game winless streak that began with their 12-11 loss to the SharX. The Silver Knights have adjusted their roster as well adding defender Juan Pablo Reyes from the Rochester Lancers and midfielder Enrique Tovar from the Anaheim Bolts. Both players will make their first appearances for Syracuse Thursday night . Jeffrey Hughes leads the Silver Knights with 47 points followed by Slavisa Ubiparapovic with 44.

After Thursday's game, the SharX will finish out the regular season with four straight home games beginning with the second half of the home and home series with Syracuse on Valentine's Day at 7 p.m. Milwaukee visits Norfolk Scope Arena on February 19th, Baltimore on February 26 and Wichita on March 2.
