Sharks Ride Friel to Sixth Straight Win

Keith Friel was on fire. The rest of the RazorSharks followed suit as Rochester torched the Dayton Air Strikers 145-115. The RazorSharks won their sixth straight Premier Basketball League game.

Friel scored nine first quarter points helping Rochester to a ten point lead after one. Melvin Council took over in the second quarter scoring eight of his 12 points as the Sharks moved into a 73-56 halftime lead.

Friel took over the third quarter scoring Rochester's first ten out of the break. A buzzer beating three pointer capped a 21 point quarter for Friel. The Sharks moved into a 117-86 lead after three.

Rochester's offensive numbers were staggering. After making four of their first five shots of the fourth quarter, the Sharks were an amazing 42 for 62 from the floor, shooting 68%. The team finished 49 of 80, a crisp 61%.

Friel didn't play in the fourth quarter. His final numbers read 30 points on 7 for 10 from long range. He made all five of his free throws and tossed in five rebounds and four assists for good measure.

He had company in the stats department as eight RazorSharks scored in double figures. Jared Carter scored 19. Mike Williams added 18. Those two combined for 17 rebounds.

Jerice Crouch played in his franchise record breaking 86th consecutive game for Rochester. He had a team high 8 assists to go with 14 points.

For the (3-14) Air Strikers, Carlos English scored 24. Quade Milum added 23.

Rochester continues its playoff push with a game Friday night at league leading Lawton-Fort Sill (14-2). The Sharks beat the Cavalry in the game of the season so far 93-91 on a half court inbounds ally-oop pass from Crouch to Eric Walton with two seconds left on March 6.

The Sharks (10-7) are one of three teams with seven losses. Two will make the playoffs. Saint John (7-7) is at Halifax (8-7) Thursday.
