
Sharks Recall Defenseman Matt Tennyson from Worcester

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Tennyson from the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
In 60 games for Worcester this season, Tennyson has posted 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) with 44 penalty minutes. He currently leads all Worcester defenseman in goals, points and assists, while his 22 assists ranks him third amongst all Worcester skaters
In 2011-12, Tennyson completed his junior season for Western Michigan University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association where in 41 games he led all team defenseman in points (24), goals (11) and assists (13), earned Second Team All-CCHA and was named as a finalist for CCHA Best Offensive Defenseman.
Tennyson, 22, played in 112 games for WMU in three seasons, posting 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) and 92 penalty minutes.
Tennyson will become the first player developed by the San Jose Jr. Sharks program to play in San Jose for the NHL Sharks. The growing program run out of Sharks Ice at San Jose currently has 20 traveling club teams that serve boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, along with numerous in-house teams that compete in tournaments and games.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Minneapolis, MN who was raised in Pleasanton, CA was signed as a free agent on March 29, 2012.
