Sharks, Preds Swap Spots in Latest AFL Media Poll
June 10, 2015 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
CHICAGO - The Jacksonville Sharks (6-5) continue to climb up the Arena Football League standings, securing the No. 4 spot in the latest AFL Media Poll.
One of the hottest teams in Arena Football over the last six weeks, Jacksonville took the lead in the American Conference South Division in Week 11 by knocking off the rival Orlando Predators (6-5), 66-51. The Sharks will attempt to make it two in a row against divisional foes this week when they travel south to Tampa for a matchup with the 4-6 Storm at 7:00 p.m. ET Friday night on ESPN2. Meanwhile, the fifth-ranked Predators will look to get back in the win column as they host the No. 2-ranked Philadelphia Soul (10-1).
The Soul head to Florida on the heels of a dominating 62-41 win over the New Orleans VooDoo (2-9) last week. Clint Dolezel's squad will try to make it a clean sweep over Orlando this season, having won both previous matchups with the Predators. The defending South Division champs have not beaten the Soul since 2011. Kickoff for that matchup is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET Saturday night on ESPN3.
The undefeated San Jose SaberCats (11-0) remain in first place of the AFL Media Poll unanimously for the fourth consecutive week after clinching their second straight Pacific Division title in Week 11. After knocking off the Spokane Shock (3-7) and punching their ticket to the 2015 AFL Playoffs last weekend, the SaberCats return home in Week 12 to host the rejuvenated LA KISS (1-9), who earned their first win of the year on Sunday. Kickoff for that matchup is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET Saturday night on ESPN3.
With reigning League MVP Nick Davila back behind center in Week 11, the Arizona Rattlers (8-2) once again looked like the team that has won three straight ArenaBowl championships. Arizona's impressive 69-46 trouncing of the Tampa Bay Storm (4-6) last week even garnered the Rattlers a handful of second-place votes in the latest AFL Media Poll. Arizona will look to continue that trend this weekend as they square off with the Portland Thunder (3-7) at 10:00 p.m. ET Saturday night on ESPN3.
The AFL Media Poll consists of voters from television, radio, and newspaper outlets who regularly cover the League in their respective markets, along with national personalities from ESPN and CBS Sports, who provide game and studio commentary about the Arena Football League.
