Sharks Fall In Final Seconds

It what was a game that will be long remembered in the ongoing rivalry between the Dorado's and the Sharks. Corpus Christi (2-3) suffered a heart breaking loss to cap one of the most thrilling games in franchise history.

Saturday night's game against the Rio Grande Valley Dorado's (2-3) was a see-saw battle that came down the wire. With the Dorado's leading by two late in the 4th Ivory McCann returned a kickoff 55 yards to give the Sharks the lead with just 16.4 seconds to play. After a successful two point conversion the Sharks held a six point lead and appeared to be heading to their third victory of the season.

The Dorado's however would be the team that would pull off the stunner. QB Travis Cole hit Eddie Jackson on a 15 yard completion to move the ball out to mid field with 10 seconds left. On the following play the Sharks got tremendous pressure on Cole who heaved a prayer to the end zone that was answered by Jackson again for a 25 yard score to tie the game with double zeros on the clock. The extra point was good and the Dorado's three game skid would come to an end with a 54-53 victory.

The win moves the Dorado's in to a second place tie with the Sharks each posting a 2-3 record on the season, one game behind the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings who lost earlier in the evening to the Tulsa Talons.

The Sharks will return home next Saturday to take on the Texas Copperheads who will be coming off their first win of the season against the Arkansas Twisters. The Sharks along with Jenny Craig and 102.3 The Planet will be hosting Lady's Night to promote breast cancer awareness. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales purchased at the Sharks Office will go to First Friday and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Sharks will also be wearing special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off and the proceed also donated to the two charities. Additionally, the first 1000 women through the door will receive a diamond, 999 of which are cubic zircon, and 1 real diamond valued at $1200 courtesy of Monica's Fine jewelers.
