Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
Firecats Quarterback Chris Wallace set a new team record passing for 363 yards leading Florida to a 66-48 victory over the Corpus Christi Sharks at Germain Arena.
The previous record of 349 passing yards had stood since April of 2001, the Firecats inaugural year in the af2. Wallace also matched a single game best by tossing nine touchdowns in the win, a team record he set in April of 2005.
Corpus Christi opened the game with QB Gary Cooper tossing the first of three touchdowns to Brandon Hussey. The Firecats scored on their next two possessions and never looked back. The offense scored on every possession except for the final drives of each half when time expired.
Chris McKinney was Wallace's favorite target collecting ten receptions for 184 yards and five touchdowns. Sharks receiver Jonathan Graham led all receivers with 12 receptions in the game. The Firecats defense recorded five tackles for a loss including four sacks and three forced fumbles in the victory.
The Firecats travel to Arkansas to battle the Twisters next week. Corpus Christi returns home to host the Tennessee Valley Vipers.
