Iron Fall Short of First Home Win, Lose to Green Bay 56-28

Milwaukee, Wis. - The Milwaukee Iron's third attempt at a home victory came up short Friday night in a 56-28 loss to in-state foe Green Bay.

After Green Bay made good on a field goal attempt to take a 3-0 lead to start the game, Milwaukee starting QB Tyler Donovan grabbed his fourth touchdown of the season on a 21-yard draw to give the Iron their first and only lead of the game, 7-3. The Blizzard then went on a 14-0 run to end the first quarter ahead, 17-7.

WR Antoine Burns was the only scorer for the Iron in the second quarter. Burns connected on a 23-yard pass from Donovan at the 12:22 mark and a scored on a field-length kick-off return to put the Iron within ten, 31-21, with 48 seconds left in the half. Green Bay wasn't finished scoring and added three points off a field goal to pull ahead 34-31 at halftime.

Thirteen unanswered points propelled the Blizzard to a 47-21 lead before Donovan broke the Iron's scoring drought with a 2-yard run touchdown, his second of the game and fifth of the season. Green Bay made good on another field goal to add three more points to its total for a 50-28 advantage.

Before the last minute of play, Green Bay scored its sixth touchdown of the game for a 56-28 deciding score.

The Iron head to Peoria for a rematch with the Pirates on May 9.
