Corpus Christi Sharks News Release
Corpus Christi Sharks Vice President and General Manager Larry Linde announced today that the team has been assigned former San Diego Charger non-drafted free agent and North Texas Alum Brandon Jackson to the 2009 Training Camp Roster.
Jackson, (6'1", 210), is yet another addition to the deepest Sharks roster in franchise history and adds even more competition to an already talent laden receiving corp.
During his senior season with the Mean Green, Jackson had 79 catches for 784 yards. Following his collegiate career, Jackson signed as a non-drafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers and was part of the teams training camp in 2008.
"Brandon is a bigger, more physical receiver that feels he didn't get the full opportunity to show what he could do", said Sharks head Coach Michael Trigg. "When you find a guy his size with determination to prove he can play at a higher level, he certainly is someone you take a hard look at".
While there is a tremendous transition from the outdoor game to the Arena game Trigg added that "Jackson is gaining a solid grasp of it".
The Sharks kick off the 2009 season Saturday March 28th against the division rival Rio Grande Valley Dorados. Tickets are available at the American Bank Center Box Office, Ticketmaster Locations and www.ticketmaster.com.
