Shaddy Goes 5-For-5 in Marshals Defeat

Carson Shaddy did all that he could at the plate on Sunday night, going a perfect 5-for-5, but the it would not be enough as the Texas Marshals fell to the Victoria Generals by a final of 13-5. Shaddy, hitting in the two hole, hit four singles, a double, and scored a run while raising his season batting average to .407, moving him into the team lead.

Marshals starting pitcher Alex Dandridge struggled form the start as the Generals jumped on him early and often. Dandridge allowed nine runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts as he took the loss in the game. The Generals were up 10-0 through five innings of play.

The Marshals finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning as Chase Daughdrill hit a two-run triple and came into score on an RBI groundout by Adonis Askew to cut the Generals lead to 10-3.

The Generals got the three runs back in the top of the seventh inning to make it a 13-3 game.

In the bottom of the eighth, Carlos Contreras singled to start the inning, moved to third on Jace Reese's double down the right-field line, and came into score on a ball that got past the Generals catcher. Reese would score later in the inning on an RBI groundout by Mason Mantle.

Shady completed his 5-for-5 performance in the bottom of the ninth as he hit a ball off the right-field wall, but was thrown out at second base trying to stretch it into a double.

Mantle picked up three hits in the game and Reese added two to aid the Marshals offensive attack.

With the loss, the Marshals fall to 3-7 on the season. The Generals improve to 6-3. The Marshals will have Monday and Tuesday off before facing the Acadiana Cane Cutters in a double header on Wednesday night starting at 5:00pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas. It will be the first meetings between the Marshals and Cane Cutters this season. Fans can see both games for the price of one.
