Seven RoadRunners Headed to Top Prospects Tournament
January 27, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release
The Topeka RoadRunners will be well represented at the 2015 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, MI this February, as Head Coach / GM Scott Langer will bring a total of seven Topeka players to the annual event which attracts college and pro scouts to evaluate and assess the league's top players.
On January 16, a RoadRunner win over the Lone Star Brahmas clinched the Number 1 spot for Topeka, meaning they would be allotted five roster spots on the Team South roster, and placing Langer as the Head Coach for the event. The Top Prospects rosters are restricted to players who do not yet have a college commitment secured. In an effort to maximize exposure, each division is represented and then a league-wide "ËNAHL Selects" team is added. Players with college commitments ARE eligible for selection to the Selects team. The US National Team Development Program (NTDP) will also take part in the NAHL event, with the USNTDP 18-Team playing the South Division team on Monday, February 23rd and then the USNTDP 17-Team facing the NAHL Selects Team on Tuesday, February 24th. The NAHL and the NTDP have a rich and productive 12-year history together, as the NTDP was a full-time member of the NAHL from 1997-2009.
The following RoadRunner players will play on Team South: Jasen Fernsler, Ryan Polin, Sam Rennaker, Daniel Rzavsky, and Sly Sutter. Named to the NAHL Selects from Topeka are Daniel Brickley and Matej Tomek.
