MONTREAL, Monday, December 3, 2007 - During press conferences held simultaneously in Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal this afternoon, Hockey Canada announced the names of the players that have been invited to compete in Canada's final evaluation camp, which will be held from December 10-14, 2007 at the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary, Alberta.

Of the 37 players invited, seven are from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League: Jonathan Bernier and Kevin Marshall of the Lewiston MAINEiacs; Mathieu Perreault of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan; Brad Marchand of the Val-d'Or Foreurs; Angelo Esposito of the Quebec Remparts; Andrew Bodnarchuk of the Halifax Mooseheads; and Claude Giroux of the Gatineau Olympiques.

During the press conference, the Commissioner of the QMJHL, Gilles Courteau, wished to congratulate the players on their selection. "Congratulations to the players on being selected and best of luck to you and the coaching staff at the world junior championship," he said. "We're happy to see that the ADT Canada-Russia series played a key role in finalizing the list of players invited to camp. Moreover, I'd like to thank club owners for releasing their players so that they might take part in this special event."

Furthermore, Clément Jodoin, an assistant coach on Canada's national junior squad, is looking forward to getting things started. "The World Junior Championship is an exciting challenge," he mentioned. "I'd like to thank the Rimouski Océanic organization for giving me the opportunity to participate in this event. Also, I'd like to invite League coaches to get involved with the Under-17 and Under-18 programs. It truly is a privilege and an unforgettable experience."

Finally, thirty-two of the players who will take part in the evaluation camp are NHL draftees. Among them is Claude Giroux, a former number one pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. "Since it's my second go-around, I feel confident going into camp this year," he said. "I think that this summer's Super Series and the ADT Challenge have given me the necessary international experience I need to be successful."
