Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
The MAINEiacs come home this week taking only 2 out of the 6 available points this weekend against the Moncton Wildcats and the Acadie- Bathurst Titan. The MAINEiacs survived a 7 round shoot out against the Wildcats on Friday night to win the game 4 to 3. As for the two games against the Titan, the MAINEiacs were not so lucky. Lewiston led early in both games but fell in the third periods 4 to 5 and 3 to 5 respectively.
On Wednesday, December 5th, the MAINEiacs take on the Eastern Division leading Halifax Mooseheads for the fourth time this season. The Mooseheads lead the season series 2 games to 1. This will be Halifax's second trip to the Colisee this season where last time they beat the MAINEiacs 6 to 4. MAINEiacs Forward Alexander Beaton leads the team with 3 points against the Mooseheads including 1 goal and 2 assists. Fellow forward Stefan Chaput trails Beaton with two goals, Jakub Bundil has 1 goal and 1 assist, and Michael Ward wraps up the points leaders with 2 assists. Other players to watch are Lucas LaBelle, Dave Taylor, Tom Michalik, and Danick Paquette; all of which have notched a goal against the Mooseheads this season. Halifax Mooseheads Logan MacMillan and Bryce Swan both have 1 goal against the MAINEiacs this season. The two players are both Anaheim Ducks prospects and could play for the Portland Pirates in the future. Peter Delmas has the best record among MAINEiacs goalies against Halifax this season with a record of 1 and 1 while Jonathan Bernier suffered the other loss. Delmas and Bernier have goals against averages of 2.01 and 6.00 respectively against Halifax.
On Friday, December 7th, the Quebec Remparts come to town for the first meeting of the two clubs during the 2007-2008 season. The Remparts are currently tied for fourth place with Victoriaville in the Telus Division. Last year the MAINEiacs won the season series against the Remparts 2-0 with both wins coming with a 1 goal differential. Stefano Giliati and Patrick Cusack are the only two remaining MAINEiacs who have points against Quebec. MAINEiacs forward Todd Chinova had one assist in two games against his present team when he played for Quebec last season.
Upcoming Promotions
On December 5th, The U.S. Marines will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots. Fans can drop off their new, packaged toys at the Toys for Tots table under section 7 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
MAINEiacs goalie Jonathan Bernier kicked off his "Bernier's Saves to Remember" this past weekend to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Maine.For every save Bernier makes this season, he will make an $8 donation to fight for a cure for Alzheimer's disease. The MAINEiacs will be hosting thier 5th annual Teddy Toss presented by State Farm Insurance on Friday, December 7th. After the first MAINEiacs goal fans may throw their new teddy bear on the ice for donation to the Androscoggin Head Start & Child Care, Toys for Tots, and Advocates for Children. The Pettingill School's 5th grade class will be participating in a one of a kind cardboard box zamboni race on December 7th. The class has been working on the zamboni's for 3 weeks and will be racing against each other during the first intermission at Friday night's game.
