Seven Join Anderson's Quest
After being named Stampede Express Head coach on February 8, 2007, Johnny Anderson has hit the ground running with one goal in mind. Anderson's first objective has been to bring in quality players to compete for a spot on the Stampede Express roster. Anderson has made a huge impact for the Stampede Express in his first couple of weeks by signing 7 new players.
The first of the new 7 joining the team come to San Angelo by the way LSU. Chris Henry is a 6'6" 300 lb offensive/defensive lineman. "Henry should be a make a great impact on the line as he is not only big but has great hands and great footwork. Henry should also be an asset to the receiving game," states Anderson.
It's "guns up" time as we sign a former Texas Tech Red Raider in Anthony Jenkins. Jenkins is wide-receiver/athlete at 6' 195 lbs. The Stampede Express has searched far and wide and even out of the States and have signed Canadian Obiajula Ikejiana. Ikejiana is a 6'2" 230 lb linebacker/running back.
Joining the Express will be a couple of ASU alumni as Larry Reid and Sedrick Horton have jumped aboard the Express train. Reid is 6'2" 253 lb linebacker and Horton is a 6'4" 305 offensive/defensive lineman. Gary Kelly will be fighting for the Center position during camp. Kelly comes to San Angelo from Alabama State. Kelly is 6'3" and weighs in at 315.
Fredirico Samuels from Missouri State University will be joining the Stampede Express in March for training camp as well. Samuels is a 6'4" defensive lineman who weighs in at 320 lbs. "Samuels should bring a lot of leadership on the defensive side of the ball. Samuels is also a very versatile athlete who can play many different positions thus should be a great asset to the Stampede roster," exclaims Anderson.
The Stampede Express will begin their 4th season on the April 28th 2007 against Frisco, with 7 action packed games at the San Angelo Coliseum.
